Valproic Acid BP/ USP/ IP VALPROIC ACID is a carboxylic acid designated as 2-propylpentanoic acid, also known as dipropylacetic acid. It is a well-established anticonvulsant drug for the past 40 years, and now is a part of more than 130 national health care programmes. It is generally considered as a first-choice for most forms of idiopathic and symptomatic generalised epilepsies. It is also effective (and regularly approved) in migraine prophylaxis and in the treatment of bipolar disorders.
